Irish North Coast Relaxed and Natural Wedding Photography
I’m often asked “what happens if it rains?” and the answer is usually - we get wet! The way that I see it is that you have to put up with the rain if you want the rainbow. The 28th of July last year saw an amber weather warning across Northern Ireland, with a month’s worth of rain falling within a few hours - which isn’t exactly the ideal weather report when you have an outdoor barn wedding planned!
Luckily for me Claire & John are two of the loveliest and most laid back people you could ever wish to meet, so the deluge definitely did not dampen spirits! With their nearest and dearest assembled on Claire’s family farm just a stone’s throw from the crumbling walls of Dunluce Castle and the crash of the North Atlantic, their only focus was on having a great day to celebrate their love for one another.
The weather did briefly break as the light was fading away, for just long enough to head to the windswept and wild coast for a wander along the cliff’s edge before getting back for their alternative and acrobatic take on the traditional first dance (see below!)
I’d photographed John and Claire before at the wedding of Roger & Jess, so knew that I was in for a great day, as for me a literal barn-load of great characters in the pouring rain trumps picture perfect weather any day . . .
